It seemed that the computer's manufacturer wanted my friend to reformat his hard drive and reinstall his operating system and program files. My friend was not even remotely comfortable with this idea. This wasn't the first time any of my friends had me asked for help, but as my friend describe what his computer company wanted him to do, I knew, if I agreed to help, that I was in for hour and hours of work. So as I began to roll my eyes, trying to figure out a nice way to get out of helping, my friend took me by suprised and said three simple words: "I'll pay you!" And thus, Geekman to the Rescue was born. |

My interest in computers was sparked back in junior high school when computers were called "PET"s -- believe it or not, Commodore came up with the name PET to capitalize on the pet-rock fad of the 1970s. (PET was actually an acronym for "Personal Electronic Transactor".) Within a few months, I was over at my high school with all the other computer geeks --there were only a handful of us back in 1980-- hanging out afterschool working on the high school's mainframe (a Digital Equipment Corporation DPD-8) for hours and hours on end learning [now] archaic programming languages like BASIC, Pascal, and Fortran, in preparation for my college days. |

And with every machine I built or customized, there was always a friend (and even my employers) who needed help.
And while there are some other companies out there who also do in-home computer repairs, they are not always available when you are, like in the evenings or on weekends. Geekman to the Rescue schedules appointments for the late afternoons and early evenings nearly seven days a week. |

The Geekman focuses his rescue efforts on those in need in the Greater Long Beach area, as well as its surrounding communities. When an appointment is requested outside the city of Long Beach with travel time greater than 20 minutes one-way, the Geekman may require additional compensation. You will always know in advance whether a travel fee will be necessary. While the Geekman prefers to work on your computer in its native environment --namely, in your home or office-- for certain services, such as "Clean Installs", you may drop off your computer at Geekman to the Rescue's headquarters and avoid travel related fees. |

It is said that "you can't be all things to all people" and to "do what you do and do it well." That's why Geekman to the Rescue does not install home theater sytems, nor telephone systems, nor security systems. Consider Geekman to the Rescue your PC specialist! And since the Geekman's focus is strictly on PCs . . . he doesn't work on Macs or Linux systems. |
